WEST HARTFORD, CT — Under the lights on an emotional Senior Night, the Conard Red Wolves boys soccer team came up just short in a hard-fought defensive duel, falling 1-0 to the visiting Bristol Central Rams.
Before kickoff, the program celebrated the dedication and leadership of its graduating senior class, honoring 15 players alongside their families during a pregame ceremony:
  • Alessandro Carbone
  • Alexander Kim
  • Andrew Nigro
  • Arb Qazimi
  • Arinzechukwu Oteka
  • Cameron Robinson
  • Christopher Plumb
  • Colin Obuchon
  • Henry Eagan
  • Jacob Jackson
  • Lucas Nadeau
  • Luke Kalke
  • Raymond Hilario
  • Ricardo De Souza Filho
  • Ryan Pantages
Once the whistle blew, the match transformed into a tactical, physical clash defined by resolute defending and contested midfield play. Conard’s backline stood tall through the opening 40 minutes, turning away Bristol Central’s probing attacks and limiting clear-cut scoring chances inside the penalty area. At the other end, the Rams’ defense proved equally stubborn, keeping the Red Wolves off the scoreboard and sending the contest into halftime locked at 0-0.
The second half continued at a grueling pace, with both squads trading possession and challenging for every loose ball. The deadlock finally broke midway through the frame when Bristol Central capitalized on an opening in the final third, finding the back of the net for a solo goal that proved to be the decisive strike.
Conard pressed forward with urgency in the waning minutes, looking to equalize and send the home crowd into celebration. Despite several late pushes and set-piece opportunities, the Rams managed to clear danger and hold on until the final whistle, sealing the narrow 1-0 road victory.
There will be little time for the Red Wolves to dwell on the setback, as high-stakes postseason soccer looms large. Next up, Conard makes the short trip across town on Monday, Oct. 26, to battle archrival Hall in an always fiery West Hartford showdown. While bragging rights will certainly be on the line, both squads can play with the confidence of knowing their seasons will continue  past Monday night: both Conard and Hall have officially punched their tickets and secured spots in the upcoming state championship tournament bracket.
