WEST HARTFORD, CT. — Under clear autumn skies, 91 golfers gathered yesterday at Rockledge Golf Course for the Friends of Conard Baseball 10th Annual Golf Tournament, presented by Atomic Mortgage. The milestone event brought together a strong mix of Conard High School alumni, parents, coaches, local business owners, and community supporters for a day dedicated to celebrating and raising funds for the Red Wolves baseball program.
What began in 2016 as a modest outing with 48 participants has steadily expanded each fall, growing into a cornerstone community event. Throughout the afternoon, players filled the course with laughter, shared memories, and competitive spirit while reconnecting with old friends and forging new bonds within the Conard baseball family.
Local businesses played a crucial role in the day's success, providing essential financial backing through feature sponsorships and tee signs across the course.
In addition to standard play, participants tested their skills in several specialty course contests:
-
Longest Drive: Colby Jones
-
Closest to the Pin: Gage Doorman
-
Longest Marshmallow Drive: Joe Celio, who launched a marshmallow an impressive 117 feet, 8 inches
Following golf, players were joined by families, business partners, and supporters at the clubhouse for the annual awards banquet. Attendees enjoyed dinner while bidding on a wide selection of raffle and silent auction prizes, with all proceeds directly benefiting the ongoing needs of the Conard High School baseball program.
Building on the momentum of this decade-long milestone, organizers have already set the date for next year's outing. The 11th Annual Friends of Conard Baseball Golf Tournament is officially scheduled for Friday, October 8, 2027, back at Rockledge Golf Course.
