BOSTON, Mass. — Rising heavy music powerhouse Nailed Shut MA has officially earned a nomination for Metal Artist of the Year at the upcoming Boston Music Awards. The five-piece group—vocalist Asher Thomas,guitarists/backing vocalists Joel Arnall and Mason Roth, bassist Owen Chepow, and drummer Jake Thompson—has rapidly carved out a reputation as one of New England’s most relentless sonic forces.
Formed in 2022, the band has continually blended visceral deathcore density with chaotic hardcore energy. The hometown recognition marks a major milestone for the group, following years of relentless touring and local scene building.
"While on our current tour, the boys in Nailed Shut and I got the news that we were nominated for the Boston Music Awards," says frontman Asher Thomas. "This is a huge milestone for us. Being a band born in Boston, and truly molded by the city, the BMAs were always something we dreamed of being nominated for. From our first show at the iconic O'Briens Pub to our recent headline at The Sinclair, Boston has given us a platform where we have been able to grow beyond our own dreams as a performing band. Boston is our forever home."
Fans can cast their votes directly through the official Boston Music Awards ballot.
A Promise Made, A Promise Kept
The nomination comes on the heels of the band's latest release, a promise made, a promise kept. Anchored by Thomas’s punishing vocal delivery and themes exploring mental health through bodily and psychological horror, the record layers punishing breakdowns, razor-sharp grooves, and pummeling low-end arrangements. It builds upon the foundation of their 2023 debut EP Lust in the End, which drew praise for its dark and immersive songwriting.
