NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Multi-Platinum rock powerhouse Skillet has officially released its highly anticipated independent EP, After the Storm. The six-song collection marks one of the heaviest, most vulnerable, and hopeful chapters in the band's nearly 30-year history.
Anchoring the release is the aggressive new focus track “Grave Stomper,” a hard-hitting anthem embodying the resilience and unyielding spirit driving the new project.
The EP arrives during a massive wave of momentum for the veteran group. Skillet recently celebrated a milestone 30 million RIAA-certified units across 21 titles, bolstered by 11 newly awarded certifications. Among these achievements, their career-defining hit “Monster” officially reached 7X Platinum status—surpassing 5 billion global streams and becoming the first song by a Christian artist to pass one billion streams on Spotify, earning a permanent spot in the platform's Billions Club.

A Return to Roots and Raw Personal Truths

Co-produced by David Cowell (Sleep Theory) and the band's own Korey Cooper, After the Storm represents both a sonic return to Skillet’s heavier musical roots and an intensely personal artistic statement. To record the EP, frontman John Cooper returned to his hometown of Memphis, tracking music there for the first time since the band’s seminal 2003 album, Collide.
Inspired by difficult seasons marked by betrayal, grief, anger, and depression—and the faith and perseverance that carried the band through—the music finds Cooper writing from his most exposed emotional place yet.
"This EP is special to me," says Cooper. "It reignites what Skillet was always meant to be—which is music that helps lift people out of dark times. I wrote these songs because I needed to be lifted out of my darkness."

“Grave Stomper” Steps Into the Light

At the core of the project stands “Grave Stomper,” a ferocious track that channels the band's signature heavy guitar work and aggressive vocal delivery. Cooper notes that the track stems directly from battling false narratives and finding peace in integrity.
"I was being slandered, but I knew those untrue words didn’t have any power over me," Cooper reflects. "You can't live in lies very long; the truth will come out. I can stand strong on that as a 'Grave Stomper.'"
“Grave Stomper” follows the momentum built by previously released singles “Scream”—which has already eclipsed 12 million global streams—and “Lift Me Up.” Together, the tracks set an uncompromising tone for an EP that directly confronts emotional suffering without surrendering hope.

Broad Cultural Footprint & Selling Out On the Road

The release of After the Storm follows widespread media attention spanning mainstream rock, news, and faith-based outlets, including features and interviews with Billboard, SPIN, FOX News, Forbes, CBN / The 700 Club, and The Daily Wire. CCM Magazine featured the full band on its September cover, documenting Skillet's expanding audience nearly three decades into their run.
Skillet is currently bringing the new music to capacity crowds on their Live Nation Still Screaming Tour. Multiple major markets have already completely sold out—including Minneapolis, Dallas, Orlando, Phoenix, Seattle, San Antonio, and Long Island—with strong ticket sales continuing across the remaining dates.
This U.S. headlining tour follows a record-breaking European trek earlier this year, where the band performed for nearly 90,000 fans across 23 cities, including a sold-out show at Paris' Zénith. The tour continues through November, blending nearly 30 years of fan-favorite hits with the heavy new sounds of After the Storm.
