LOS ANGELES, CA — Beck has unveiled a new live performance video for “Ride Lonesome,” capturing the first time the track was ever played live.
Described by PARADE as an “instant classic” and praised by NME as part of a “drop dead gorgeous meditation on heartache and solitude,” “Ride Lonesome” serves as the opening track for Beck’s critically acclaimed album of the same name.
Recorded live on May 7th at the iconic Sydney Opera House, the debut finding sees Beck accompanied by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Nicholas Buc. The arrangement—co-created by Beck and his father, veteran composer David Campbell—is anchored by Beck’s longtime live band lineup, including Jason Falkner on bass and backing vocals, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. on piano and backing vocals, and James McAllister on drums. Mixed by Tom Gelissen and mastered by Paul Hicks, the orchestral performance brings striking new depth to a track that NPR proclaimed “as moving and beautifully produced as any of his most beloved work.”
The video release comes alongside the announcement that Beck will join U2 as support for the launch of The Greatest Show on Earth World Tour 2027. Marking his first time sharing a stage with the band since The Joshua Tree 2017 stadium tour, Beck is slated to open Latin American stadium dates across Mexico City, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires from late February through late March.
Beck is currently on the road for the North American leg of his Ride Lonesome tour. The setlists feature material from the new record alongside fan favorites and deep cuts spanning milestone albums like Morning Phase, Sea Change, and Mutations.
